sorry this is kinda like super duper late haha, but it just occurred to me i should post it here just in case.
after discussing with wenjie, we concluded that the chances of me misreading the note mr loo gave me in the middle of my chem paper (>.<) are very slim. so most probably i interpreted it correctly.
